House of Care Receives Record Donation
The 11th Shaner Charity Golf Tournament produced a record donation for a local organization. The House of Care in State College was the chosen beneficiary to receive the proceeds raised by the annual event.
On December 16, 2011, Lance Shaner and employees from the Shaner corporate offices in State College presented the House of Care Executive Director, Audrey Smith, and Board President, Karen McCulley, with a check for $41,161.25, one of the largest single donations ever received by the House of Care.
The House of Care, located on Beaver Avenue in State College, is a small personal care home for those who have declining or compromised health and who lack the housing, financial or family resources to receive the assistance they need with the activities of daily living. Since the home opened in 2000, they have served over sixty-eight residents from the Centre County region. The House of Care is a non-profit organization and a full partner agency of the Centre County United Way. For more information on the House of Care, go to http://www.thehouseofcare.org.
Shaner hosted the 11th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on August 12, 2011, at the Penn State Blue and White Course in State College.
