Football Game: Saturday, October 6 vs. Northwestern
October in Happy Valley means trading your sunscreen for sweatshirts and seeing the green foliage of summer turn into a mosaic of colors draped over Happy Valley. It also means football, and specifically Homecoming weekend for Penn State.
This year's Homecoming weekend will be on October 5-7, with the Nittany Lions taking on Big Ten rival Northwestern on Saturday the 6th.
Homecoming is one of the toughest weekends to get a hotel in State College, so start making your plans now!
Homecoming Week Schedule of Events
September 29th - Homecoming Day of Service
Volunteer a few hours of your time to help improve the Penn State community! Participating orgs can earn spirit points by volunteering. Sign up online at volunteer.psu.edu.
8-3 p.m. at White Building
Spirit Points
September 30th - Dance Competition and SPA Concert
Dance teams will compete to see who is Penn State's Best Dance Crew! The winners will perform at Pep Rally on Friday. Turn in your tickets afterwards to receive Spirit Points for your organization!
Homecoming Kick-Off concert sponsored by SPA. Artist TBA.

October 1st - East Halls Celebration
Watch student organizations' performances, win prizes, get free food, purchase Homecoming merchandise and meet your 2012 Homecoming Court! Banner and T-Shirt Competition submissions will be on display.
October 2nd - Past to Present
Come celebrate Penn State's history and progressive through the years! Free food, games, performances and much more!.
11-4pm HUB: Ground and First Floor
October 2nd - FTG Talent Show
Come see Penn State organizations show off their talents including magic, singing, dancing and even stand-up comedy!.
7-9 p.m. Eisenhower Auditorium

October 3rd - BOPS Carnival and Field Day
Come celebrate Penn State tradition at the Best of Penn State Field Day & Carnival! Field Day includes fun filled games for registered orgs to participate in. The Carnival features booths with games and activities for anyone to participate in. There will also be free food, giant inflatables, raffles and more!.
3-8 p.m. at Old Main Lawn

October 5th - Student and Alumni Ice Cream Social
Come to the Hintz Family Alumni Center before the parade for an afternoon of friends, fun, and entertainment. Enjoy some creamery ice cream and interact with current and former Penn Staters!
1-4 p.m. at Hintz Alumni Center
October 5th - Pep Rally and Royalty Coronation
The Pep Rally is where the entire Penn State community gathers to get excited for the Homecoming football game! Come show off your PSU Pride and you enjoy appearances by some of your favorite Penn State groups, including the Blue Band, Cheerleaders and of course the Lion! Make sure to stick around for the crowning of your 2012 Penn State Homecoming King & Queen!.

October 5th - Madhatter Competition
Madhatters must check-in at the same time their designated float check-in time. They will be judged at 2:30pm.
2:30 PM at Intramural Building

October 5th - Parade
Come see the largest student run collegiate homecoming parade in the nation!
Entries into the float competition will be judged as they pass the Friends & Family Tent at the Allen St Gates on College Ave.
6 p.m. in State College
October 6th - Tailgate Competition
The Tailgate Competition is now open to any and all alumni or students! Get ready to show off your delicious food, exciting atmosphere, and Penn State pride! Prizes will be given out the day of the event.
2 1/2 hours before kickoff at Beaver Stadium
October 6th - Homecoming Football Game
Come cheer on the Nittany Lions as they take on the Northwestern Widlcats Let's go State!
12 p.m. at Beaver Stadium
October 7th - Recycle Your Float
Come and recycle your float after the parade!.
