Parking Updates for 2011 Penn State Blue - White Game

Inclement Weather Plan for Blue-White Parking

Revised Parking Map Due to Weather

The recent rain and expected inclement weather on Saturday has led to additional parking changes for the Penn State Blue-White Game presented by AAA.

Fans attending Saturday's Blue-White Game are encouraged to leave their RVs at home this weekend due to the saturated fields that have reduced the number of available parking spaces around Beaver Stadium.

The forecasted rain is not expected to have any effect on the Blue-White Game itself, which will kick at 2:00 p.m. in Beaver Stadium. Game day parking lots will open at 8:00 a.m. Gates A & B will open for fans at 12:00 p.m. for the autograph session, which begins at 12:30 p.m. and will take place in the stadium ground level concourse. Gates C & E will open at 12:30 p.m.

As in previous years, gameday parking and admission to the Blue-White Game are free.

Lot 12 and the grass portion of the Stadium West parking lot will not be available this weekend due to wet conditions. On Saturday, traffic management staff and parkers will direct cars to the lots closest to the stadium. Several parking lots will be unavailable due to construction and other weekend activities. Fans are asked to please follow as directed to the closest available parking lot.

For fans who are bringing an RV, the overnight RV parking lot (Lots 19-20) will open Friday at 8 a.m. and the cost is $60 for the weekend (cash only). Limited gameday RV parking will be available near the stadium until capacity is reached and then RV parking will be in more remote areas.

Fans driving on U.S. 322 from the Ssoutheast (Lewistown/Harrisburg/Philadelphia) should be aware of a construction detour in Boalsburg. Traffic heading West on U.S. 322 will be detoured onto South Atherton Street exit. Fans should follow the detour signs in Boalsburg, turning right (East) onto Route 45 and then turning left back onto U.S. 322 West to get to Beaver Stadium in the most timely manner.

Fans driving on I-99/U.S. 220/322 from the west (Altoona/Pittsburgh) are encouraged to get to Beaver Stadium via the Penn State/Park Avenue exit. There are a larger number of parking spaces available for fans who drive Westbound on Park Avenue toward the stadium, rather than Eastbound from near the Nittany Lion Inn.

Parking and tailgating rules and the list of prohibited items in Beaver Stadium remain the same for the Blue-White Game as a regular season football game. Umbrellas, Backpacks and strollers are among the items not permitted in the stadium. The complete list of prohibited items and parking/tailgating rules are available in the 2010 stadium guide.

Athletics Customer Relations representatives will be available to Blue-White gameday fans beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday through one hour after the game ends, including at the stadium gates at 12 p.m. For assistance, fans can call 1-800-NITTANY (1-800-648-8269).

A carnival, food vendors and other events, including fireworks and the Penn State Idol finals, are Friday from 6-10 p.m. adjacent to Beaver Stadium. The carnival and other events, run Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and the carnival runs on Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. For a complete schedule of Blue-White Weekend events, go to: www.GoPSUsports.com's Gameday Central.

Portions of Beaver Stadium are under construction. Those areas will be fenced or barricaded during the Blue-White Game.

The most noticeable change in Beaver Stadium since the end of last season is a project that will add more than 100 new locations for ADA patrons and companion seating for the 2011 season. Wheelchair access to the North field level seats has changed, with access from the center portal (Section NF) in the North end zone. Three new ADA-accessible restrooms will be constructed on the North side, near Section NF, and will be open this fall.

On the East side of the stadium, the first three rows of seats from goal line to goal line have been removed and replaced with five large, pre-cast sections that will permit additional ADA spectators and companions to watch the Nittany Lions from a great vantage point. Also in the East stands, two vomitory ramps have been improved to allow for increased and easier access by ADA patrons to the new seating areas. Three new ADA-accessible restroom facilities also are being constructed on the East side and will be open for the upcoming season.

Immediately following the Blue-White Game, the first three rows of the West stands, from goal line to goal line, will be removed and construction mirroring the work on the East side to increase ADA seating will begin. Three new ADA-accessible restrooms also will be constructed on the West side for this season.

Athletics Customer Relations representatives will be available to Blue-White gameday fans beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday through one hour after the game ends. For assistance, fans can call 1-800-NITTANY (1-800-648-8269).
