Downtown State College, PA Parking

Downtown State College, PAParking in Happy Valley and State College is simple and can even be free. There are a number of options whether you’re looking for long-term parking or just need something for the afternoon shopping trip (see below for more info on free parking). Parking lots (map at bottom of page) can be found on the 100 blocks of W. Beaver Ave, Fraser St., and McAllister St. as well as on the 200 block of Allen St. The rate for parking in the lots is $0.75 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Be sure to check the signs at the lots as time limits vary at each. 

There are three parking garages in downtown State College (map at bottom of page). One is located on each of the 100 blocks of S. Fraser St., S. Pugh St., as well as in the 200 block of W. Beaver Ave. Parking in the garages is free for the first half hour. The daytime rate is $0.50 per hour (6 a.m.-6-p.m.) while it goes down to $0.50 per hour in the evenings (6 p.m.-6 a.m.)During special event rates, the cost is $1.25 per hour. Parking is free on Sundays from 3am-10pm with the exception of event weekends and PSU football weekends. Monthly rentals are also available at the McAllister Parking Deck and Allen Street Surface Lot. For more information call the parking office at (814) 278-4769

Street meters are available throughout downtown State College. The rate is $1 per four from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. After 5 p.m. time limits on the street meters are extended to three hours. 

There are a couple of options that make parking a breeze. For municipal meters, there’s the Cash Key. To use, simply insert the key into any municipal meter and you can add time without having to carry coins. The EZ Card allows for cash-free parking in all downtown garages. For those of you planning to spend some time shopping, a number of merchants in State College borough also offer validation parking tickets for up to three hours of parking in any of the downtown parking lots with a qualified purchase. A full list of participating retailers is below.
