2011 Homecoming Logo to be Revealed at Blue-White Game
This Saturday, April 16, the 2011 Homecoming Executive Committee will unveil this year’s logo during half-time at the Blue White football game.
With fans and alumni arriving from all across the country for Blue White Weekend, there is no better time to reveal the logo for one of Penn State’s greatest traditions.
A graphic design course taught by Professor Kristen Sommese presented the Executive Committee with about twenty logos to choose from. By process of elimination, the directors slowly picked their favorites until the perfect fit was found in a design by Ryan Ulsh.
This new logo will be used on all merchandise, flyers, and posters. It will also be included in many events leading up to Homecoming 2011.
The theme for Homecoming 2011, Forever Lions-Endless Pride, was revealed at THON this past February. The new logo hopes to embody the concept of this year’s theme.
“I am so excited for the logo reveal because it brings the theme to life,” says 2011 Homecoming Executive Director, Leah Matusow. “I think it will be liked by Penn Staters, young and old, and it really encompasses the idea that once you are a lion you forever appreciate the pride that runs through this university and community.”
Look for the Executive Committee on the field at Beaver Stadium this Saturday and catch a first glimpse at this year’s Homecoming logo.
