Jon Robin Baitz’s Ten Unknowns, set in the early 1990s, is a play of remarkable power that traces tangled alliances and betrayals that develop among its precisely rendered characters.

Decades earlier, Malcolm had been included in a group exhibition — “Ten Unknowns” — of up-and-coming artists to watch, but he quickly faded into obscurity after he turned his back on the New York art world which had dismissed his realistic style in favor of abstract expressionism.

Now living in self imposed exile in Mexico, Malcolm’s life is turned upside down when Trevor, a New York-based art dealer, arrives in Mexico to convince him to mount a solo exhibition back in the U.S.
