What's Up with Penn State Football?
By John Tecce
The past few weeks, following Penn State football has felt like a full-time job. Here is a summary of all the madness.
Rob Bolden
The only freshman quarterback to ever start the season opener for Penn State may be on his way out just as quickly as he became a household name back in September. Rob Bolden came to Penn State this past August and proceeded to earn the starting quarterback position in just a few weeks. After starting the first seven games of the season, Bolden appeared to be having a breakout game against Minnesota (11 for 13, 130 yards and 1 TD) before leaving in the second quarter with a concussion. He was held out for precautionary reasons the following week and was reinserted as the starter against Northwestern on November 5th. Bolden only played two series, completing 3 of 4 passes before being benched in favor of Matt McGloin, who had led PSU to victories the past two weeks. Bolden would not see another meaningful snap the rest of the season despite McGloin’s tendency to fluctuate between Joe Montana and Hannah Montana in the final four games, which Penn State finished 1-3.

In the movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, corporate villain Gordon Gekko proclaims that the mother of all evil is speculation because of the problems it ends up causing. In the case of Penn State football, speculation has turned into a circus surrounding the future of legendary head coach Joe Paterno.
I’ve heard rumors from every source imaginable, most of them coming from “credible sources”. A friend of a friend receives a text message from a former player. A friend’s brother’s roommate’s father is a big-time donor and received a letter from President Spanier. And then, there’s the most widespread source of all: “the e-mail”.
2011 Outback Bowl Post Game Thoughts and Bolden Talk

With the bowl game and festivities now over, we're getting the chance to see what else Tampa has to offer. First, however, came a much needed day of relaxation for myself, Mike, and Carolyn. After waking up before the sun the past two days, it felt amazing to sleep until noon. We made the short walk over to the International Plaza and Bay Street (an indoor/outdoor mall with shopping and restaurants) and spent some of the day exploring there, then returned to the hotel room to watch football. We plan on having dinner at Kona Grill, which has received great reviews in Tampa and is only a few minutes from us.

Post Game
I want to try to avoid discussing what happened on the field today not only because of the result, but mostly because that's what every other article and blog out there will focus on. Anyone who watched the game knows what happened, so I'd rather fill in the details about the rest of the Outback Bowl experience.
