2012 Penn State Blue-White Game Weekend

Spring Game, Fireworks, Carnival, Live Music, Autograph Session Among Numerous Activities Celebrating Penn State Football

The dates for one of the highlights of the Penn State sports calendar, Blue-White Weekend presented by AAA, have been set for 2012.

Blue-White Weekend will be held April 20-22, 2012, with the Blue-White football game on April 21 as the centerpiece for numerous activities throughout the weekend in and around Beaver Stadium.

Numerous events are held during Blue-White Weekend, including a carnival, fireworks, food vendors, the student entertainment stage and live music, and the Penn State Idol finals. On gameday, the popular autograph session with the football student-athletes is held prior to kickoff of the Blue-White Game in Beaver Stadium.

Blue-White Weekend has become the university’s unofficial annual reunion and attracted record-breaking spring football crowds in excess of 70,000 from 2007-09, topped by 76,500 at the 2009 contest. The past three Blue-White Games have seen rain and cool weather stop the run of record-setting audiences.

Season tickets are available for the 2012 season.

For information on joining the Nittany Lion Club and purchasing season tickets, as well as club seating in Beaver Stadium, fans can call 1-800-648-8269 (1-800-NITTANY).

Blue-White Weekend Schedule

The carnival outside Beaver Stadium will be open Friday-Sunday. It is open from 6pm-10pm on Friday, with fireworks at 9pm. It will be open all day Saturday until from 10am to 10pm, and from 10am-3pm on Sunday.

On Friday, stop by the dunk tank sponsored by the Penn State Uplifting Athletes, with proceeds benefiting the Nittany Lion football team’s Lift for Life fund-raiser for the Kidney Cancer Association.

Before Saturday's game, there will be an autograph session with the players on the field (weather permitting).

Saturday's game begins at 2pm, with free parking and admission.

The Penn State All-Sports Museum is launching its 10th Anniversary Celebration with an Open House on Saturday and Sunday, featuring tours, games and light refreshments.

The Beaver Stadium 5K Run/Family Fun Walk will begin Sunday at 10am, and will benefit Special Olympics Pennsylvania.

Look for us around the tailgating areas. Gathering signatures for to honor the late Joe Paterno. Paterno Field at Beaver Stadium.. We are closing in on 59,000, with a goal of 107,282 before this petition will be presented and made a reality.

The Beaver Family has our full support, and this is the direct quote email response from Scott Paterno when asked about our petition:"If penn staters want to rename the stadium after joe (or as I understand adding "Paterno Field at " to it) that is a tremendous honor. If it is important to penn staters we have no objection".

See you all at the Blue White Game, before the game and after. WE ARE PENN STATE.... HONOR AND DIGNITY FOR JOE PATERNO...... Thank you, Blake Tobias

While at the game, be sure to go sign the Paterno Field @ Beaver Stadium petition. The goal is to simply name the field after the great PSU coach and mentor. We are Penn State and Paterno Proud!

The references are probably due to this article being written around the time the date for the 2012 game was announced, which was in May of 2011. The article reads like it was written before the start of the 2011 season.

Please update the information contained in this link. Starts off accurately describing the details of the 2012 Blue-White Weekend, but then continues with 2011 information--including awkward reference to Joe Paterno's Nittany Lions--and concludes with "Article courtesy Penn State Athletics Communications." Recommend they be contacted to provide updated info. Joe Paterno would want the page to be updated, so in respect for him, and what he stood for, please make the correction.
